Trip to the Medical Clinic
Today we had a bit of a medical scare. Sophie had previously gotten an injury on her finger, and today she saw red lines running down her arm, which we feared was a blood infection. Of course, we did not see this till it was after dark. Luckily, our neighbors were able to drive us down to town to go to the medical clinic. It was late, but they were still open, and we were able to see the doctor right away.
He was able to quickly diagnose the issue. It was a blood infection, so it was good that we came! He prescribed some antibiotics to us. Sophie said she wanted the most effective ones, and those were the injectable kind. All in all, it was only $50 for the visit without insurance, so pretty great value!
Next we went to the pharmacy to pick up the medication and supplies. It was only $100 for everything, so again not bad.
We got home and I prepared to do her injection. It was the type where the liquid is separate from the powderized medication. I had to break the ampule, which was interesting, and then inject the liquid into the vial, mix it, then pull it all up, and then get a fresh needle for the injection. It was a fairly large needle gauge, so it was not pleasant for, but she did a good job!
We had to do this for 7 days, and it made her all better. It felt kind of fun to mix up the medication. I kind of liked breaking the ampule.
Wow, glad y'all were able to get to the clinic! Things like that so often happen late at night or on the weekends. Bless those neighbors!
ReplyDeleteThe injection does not sound pleasant, but I understand why the mechanics of it all would be fun. Yay for effective medications, yay for affordable options, yay for healing. Hugs to Sophie!
