Trip to the Medical Clinic

Today we had a bit of a medical scare. Sophie had previously gotten an injury on her finger, and today she saw red lines running down her arm, which we feared was a blood infection. Of course, we did not see this till it was after dark. Luckily, our neighbors were able to drive us down to town to go to the medical clinic. It was late, but they were still open, and we were able to see the doctor right away.  He was able to quickly diagnose the issue. It was a blood infection, so it was good that we came! He prescribed some antibiotics to us. Sophie said she wanted the most effective ones, and those were the injectable kind. All in all, it was only $50 for the visit without insurance, so pretty great value! Next we went to the pharmacy to pick up the medication and supplies. It was only $100 for everything, so again not bad. We got home and I prepared to do her injection. It was the type where the liquid is separate from the powderized medication. I had to break the ampule, which was...

Performing with a Friend at the Market

Image
Today I performed with a friend at a local market. She was doing a poetry reading, and I accompanied her with my hang (hand pan) and a djembe. IT was a neat thing to be able to do! That was the first time I had been able to perform with the hang, so I was pretty glad I brought it. I also was able to use my nice microphones to mic up the hang. Though I did not have a mic stand, so I got creative with using a phone holder and a camera stand, and it worked! After the performance was complete, I walked around with Sophie to look at the booths, and I got some pizza for lunch. There was also a folk dancing performance, which was really cool to watch! Going away (for now) party

The friend we had dinner with is heading back to the US for a few months, and she had a gathering at her house. It was lovely! There was good food, and we had a whole bunch of musicians there, so we got together and played music together. I brought my trusty bodhran (such a good idea to bring it) and we had a blast! I was too busy playing music to get pictures, but I did get a picture of some of the food and some wine we had:   It was really nice to celebrate her before she leaves. We look forward to seeing her again when she comes back! I also saw a frog outside on a bucket!   After the party ended, a small group of us went to another friends place where we talked and hung out for a but. It was quite nice! I also saw a neat arachnid of some type (maybe a harvestman): The arachnid I saw Bonus pic of a jumping spider on my bonsai earlier that day

Early September Pictures

Nothing too crazy happened these days, but we did a variety of things where I actually took pictures, so I wanted to share those here.   9/5, Going into town running some errands:  Saw a beautiful orb weaver at the hardware store! Sorry it is so blurry in the pic, the camera did not want to focus. Also picked up a bonsai here! (pic down below). We went to a pizza place for lunch. Pizza was so-so, but it was very cheap, which we appreciated! Stopping at the hilltop restaurant for the view and drinks. As an aside, I ordered food for us. I must have spoken too softly, because I asked for the yucca fries, but I was pointing, and apparently I pointed at the mozzarella sticks. They were ok, but I would have preferred the yucca fries, but it was not a big deal. My new bonsai tree! 9/10, Around the house: Leaf bug on the leaf!  9/11, more errands in town: Got ice cream at Pops! Sophie had gotten me bracelets/animal conservation sponsorship where we can track where the animals are...
