October River hike

On October 3rd, we took a hike to the river again, and we got some nice pictures. you can click on them to get a better view.












It was humid as always, but it was a nice hike!

Exploring around the backyard

During the hardscaping, they did a lot of cleaning up in the backyard, so it is a lot more open now and easier to walk around in. I took a walk around the newly cleaned up backyard and visited the cool tree in the back. The cool tree Back entrance onto the road Kind of bittersweet, as it doesn't feel as jungly now You can see the new path going from the door to the left, which leads down to the balcony below

Birthday Trip

Sophie and I took a trip for my birthday! This post is going to be a long one with a lot of pictures! And apologies, I thought about splitting this into two parts, but I had already added all the images by then, and it was a lot of work to add these all.   8/27  The first   place we went was Carara National Park. Sophie had arranged for us to get a tour from a guide, and I am really glad we did! When we got there, there were about a half dozen iguanas,which was really neat, they were really big and just watched you.   First, we went down one path, and the guide was able to find a family of howler monkeys. It was really cool! She had a telescope, so we were able to see them really well. There was a baby monkey too, which was really cute!   After that we went down another path through the jungle, and we saw all sorts of creatures. We saw a bunch of spiders, including big orb weavers. A visit to the National Museum!

 We went into San Jose today to run some errands, and since we were there, we went to the National Museum! It was an amazing place, and it is in a former military fort, which was turned over to the museum when the military was disbanded. Unfortunately we did not have enough time to see everything we wanted to, so we hope to be back again! Here are some pictures I took:   First up is the butterfly garden! It was beautiful! So many butterflies! The owl butterfly!
